Smart Software ccMissionTo provide well crafted tools that will simplify and streamline the administration of schools. DirectionSmart Software is mainly directed by the requests and needs of our clients. Continuous research, development and support is occurring on a daily basis. Keeping up-to-date with the changes currently occurring in the educational system of South Africa is a high priority. HistoryThe development of Smart Software started in 1984 as a favour to an East Rand school expressing their need for a computerised timetable system. A civil engineer and part time programmer, the late Mr. Cyril Kidson, took up the challenge. Over years, his software became more and more popular, expanding into other areas of school administration. After a long period of illness, Mr. Kidson passed away in 1997. The principal of one of the many schools using his software, Rian Brandt, saw an opportunity to take over the development and support of the system. In conjunction with Jacky Fuchs, a programmer apprenticed to the late Mr. Kidson, and Reaan Botha, a support technician working for Rian's school, Smart Software was reborn. Jacky has since moved on to greener pastures. Smart Software is actively being developed and supported by the two Riaans.
