Uploading with the LURITS POP engine

Download

You can get the LURITS POP engine from our Downloads page.

Installation

Extract the zip file. Run setup.exe. Follow the instructions. After installation, you'll have two icons on your Desktop - POP Interface Manager and POP Interface Processor.

Setting it up

The first time your run the Interface Manager, you must select a folder in which to create the POP engine's folder. Select the C:\ drive. Other folders can work but will complicate finding the export folder or feedback files.

After creating the folder you can import the XML files exported by Smart. Of course, this implies that all your data must be prepared so that you are able to export. To import XML files, run the Interface Manager. Choose Live School and remove the tick from Secure. Click on Import Interface File(s). Find one of the XML files created by Smart, and Open it.

Normal use of the program

When required, export XML files from Smart Software. You can import the files using the Interface Manager, or just export it directly to the relevant folder. The default folder is C:\SASAMSInterface\SASAMSInterfacePOP\SASAMSInterfacePOPFiles\700123456\sending. The number will differ based on your province and EMIS number. The directory will exist after setting up the Interface Manager as described above.

When you run the Interface Processor, the imported files will be uploaded to the LURITS system. If LURITS has any feedback about previous uploads, those feedback files will be retrieved and stored in a \receiving folder.

Smart will look for and read the feedback files, and display them on the Import tab. You can view the contents of a feedback file by double-clicking on it. To store information such as learners' LURITS numbers in Smart, you should click on Process files.

Errors that may occur

If errors occur during upload or download, a description of the error will be stored in an \errors folder.

It is important that every exported file be uploaded, and every downloaded file be processed, in the proper sequence. After exporting data and uploading it, use the Interface Processor to download the feedback files and then process it. Don't export again before processing the feedback for the previous set of files.

If the sequence of files is broken, it may occur that Smart Software and LURITS become desynchronized. In this case, you can reset the sequence numbers in Smart by clickin on the Sequence numbers button and changing all the values to 0. To reset the sequence numbers in LURITS, you need to contact your provincial EMIS office.
